The 1987-88 Altoona Area High School girls basketball team was inducted into the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. Other team members included Susie Adams, Michele Andrews, Sandy Baker, Amy Baughman,  Jackie Berryman, Katina Curry, Sherry DeAgostino, Margaret Leberfinger and manager Shawn Focht.

Hall of Fame achievementThe 1987-88 Altoona Lady Lions finished unbeaten and won the PIAA Class AAAA championship and the USA Today mythical national championship for the second time in three years. Several of the seniors started or contributed as sophomores when Altoona won its first PIAA title and also was recognized as No. 1 in the country by USA Today.
